Privacy: what stays on your computer and what leaves
This page describes what the app’s code does today (checked on 2026-11-07). The app is not released yet; if anything changes, this page changes first.
Stays on your computer
- The audio. It is captured from the microphone while you hold the shortcut and transcribed locally by a Whisper model, on the CPU. The code does not send audio to any server.
- The Whisper models. They ship with the app or are downloaded once into the user’s cache folder.
- The pasting. The final text is pasted through the clipboard; the app saves the previous contents and tries to restore them afterwards.
Leaves your computer
- The transcribed text (not the audio) and the name of the application you are in, sent to a cloud language model for punctuation and correction.
- If this step fails, or no connection or key is configured, the app pastes the raw text and nothing is sent.
There are two paths in the code and which one ships is not decided: one sends the text, with the user’s own key, to OpenRouter; the other sends it to a function hosted on Supabase that calls Claude, by Anthropic. In both, the model provider sees the text. Their policies apply to that text, not mine.
Account and logs
- The app signs in with an emailed link (Supabase).
- The cloud function logs the user id, word count, model used and application name. That function’s code does not store the dictated text.
- The code includes a weekly word limit on a free tier. No prices or plans are published.
Permissions on macOS
The app asks for microphone access (to listen) and accessibility access (to paste text into other applications).
This website
- The demo is simulated: it runs in your browser and does not record or send what you say or type.
- The optional microphone button only measures loudness to animate the wave; nothing is recorded or sent.
- Visit measurement with Google Analytics through Tag Manager, only after you accept. Declining changes nothing on the site. The waitlist is an ordinary email: there is no form or database.
